NEAR BEACH: Fustic House is a privately owned 11-acre estate that dates back to 1740. The extensive property with mesmersing panoramic views of the Caribbean coastline is set on a ridge, where tradewinds provide welcome cooling breezes. The property was re-designed in the late 1970's by the English theatrical designer, Oliver Messel whose distinctive style was to create a series of indoor and outdoor living areas that flow seamlessly together. Fustic House provides exceptional beauty inside and out. The thick coral stone walls show the history of the building, and the statues and sculptural art pieces that dot the garden make the estate’s grounds a pleasurable place to stroll or lounge under swaying mahogany trees. The grounds are beautifully tended and feature an array of unusual and exotic species. Nestled in the tropical garden is a lagoon swimming pool that was designed by Messel. The pool water is treated with an ioniser, which reduces the need for chlorine to almost zero. The result is the sensation of swimming in pure, spring water. At night the pool is lit from below, making it an even more romantic and mysterious place to swim. Beside the pool is a spacious sun deck built over the coral ravine below. The sundeck is an ideal place to relax with a cocktail in between cooling dips in the pool, or to simply bask in the suns rays while taking in the view. There are 7 luxury suites, each equipped with a super king or double queen bed, air conditioning, and Bose sound systems. There are two suites in the Great House, two in the Plantation Wing, two in the Messel Wing and one in the Pavilion. The Master in the Great House and the two suites in the Messel Wing have views of the Caribbean Sea while the suites in the Plantation Wing and Pavilion have private outdoor showers. Fustic House with its outdoor terraces, multiple seating areas and attentive staff, is ideal for entertaining.
